A World of Rentals Inc. was opened in June, 1998 by the Wilson Brothers, Chris and Colin. We had both previously worked at a decorating store owned by our parents, and headed out on our own to try a new and interesting (challenging) business. Our parents, Lloyd and Mary Wilson have supported us since the beginning — Lloyd, helping out around the shop when we needed and Mary, showing us the ins and outs of bookkeeping. Our goal from the beginning was, and still is, to specialize in quality equipment for the small contractor, and do–it–yourselfer.

In the fall of 1998, we formed A World of Paint. Relying on our knowledge of the paint industry, we were able to bring in a line of top quality Canadian made paints, stains and urethanes. Solignum has been making paint for Canadians since 1907. Paint was a natural fit with rentals, as it makes us a "one stop shop". It is very helpful to have all the products that our customers need to complete their projects. Since that time, we have added CIL to our line of paint, and we continue to supply top quality products at competitive prices.

Also in the fall of 1998, we formed Shelving and Racking World, a business specializing in used warehouse shelving and pallet racking. Our father, Lloyd Wilson, began this business, accidentally, by selling off used racking and shelving that he had kept from his previous business. After seeing the demand in our area, we began buying the shelving again as it became available. Lloyd continues to help us in this business.

I was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and came to Kingston at the age of 18 months, so I have always considered myself a Kingstonian. I went to Portsmouth Public School, then Winston Churchill, followed by High School at KCVI. I completed the automotive program at St. Lawrence College, however soon realized that it was not the career path for me. I worked for mom and dad for a number of years before they retired, and then Colin and I opened our own store in 1998.

I have played the old time fiddle since the age of 5, and have been successful in many competitions throughout Ontario, the Maritimes, Quebec, and the United States. I competed from the age of 7 until I was in my early 20's. I then played with a couple of country bands, Including Country Road, Shotgun, and Showdown. From 2002 through the end of 2010 I played with one of Ontario’s premier bluegrass bands, The Northern Sons. The Northern Sons decided to retired (after 25 years) in December, 2010. I guess that makes me a “free agent” once again.

I have two beautiful daughters who were born in 1994. Christin Wilson (the oldest twin) and Haley Wilson (my youngest) are now attending Regiopolis, and are both active on the girls Rugby team and with the Wrestling team. Christin plays the fiddle, step-dances, and is currently working on guitar picking. Haley plays the fiddle, step-dances, and is learning to play the Mandolin. Both girls are coached by Grandpa Lloyd. Grandma Mary teaches them baking, and keeps them organized for all their musical functions. The girls have recently formed an all girls bluegrass band called the CHEM Chiks, and they play various “gigs” around the Kingston Area.

I met my sweetheart, Jennifer Stainrod, in the spring of 2007. Jennifer works for Loyola head office in Napanee, where she is the Administrative Assistant Continuing Education and Correctional Programs. We were married in October, 2009.

I was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario, in Portsmouth village. I went to Portsmouth Public School to grade 4, and then continued on to Rideau Public School in their French emersion program. High school was at LCVI in Kingston, where I was on the Football, Hockey, and Rowing teams. I then studied business at the University of Ottawa. After University, I returned to Kingston to work in my family's business, until they retired in 1997, at which time Chris and I started our businesses.

I am married to Patti, who I met in 2001, and we have two children, Dylan and Lauren.

Dylan attends the University of Western Ontario and is studying Engineering. Following in the family music tradition, he takes guitar lessons, and has taken drum lessons as well.

Lauren is in primary school at Our Lady of Lourdes. She is a very happy little girl, who enjoys playing her flute along with Grandpa and cousins, Christin and Haley. She does lots of baking with mommy and Grandma, which she enjoys. She started into photography at a very early age, starting with a digital camera at the age of 4.

I too played the fiddle from an early age (4), and am a 3rd generation fiddle player. I took Suzuki Violin, as well as I competed in Old Time Fiddle competitions, from Dartmouth Nova Scotia, to the Calgary Stampede, and into New York State and Vermont. Our music style comes from the "Ottawa Valley", where father, Lloyd and Grandfather Lorne both made their mark in fiddling.
